(Winter Springs, FL) – CAMCAD Technologies, Inc., an award-winning provider of innovative manufacturing solutions, has announced their partnership with Earthrise Space Inc. (ESI), the parent organization of the Omega Envoy team competing for the Google Lunar X PRIZE.

SURFCAM, Inc., a global leader in CAD/CAM software, has granted a full license of SURFCAM 5-axis CAM programming software to ESI. As a partner to SURFCAM and ESI, CAMCAD will provide a post processor for their CNC mill, SURFCAM training and additional support to help streamline the company’s manufacturing processes, harnessing the power of the innovative software. This will allow ESI to significantly reduce costs and produce quality parts in record time.

Earthrise Space, through its Omega Envoy Project, is a team of scientists and students pursuing the Google Lunar X PRIZE. A total of $30 million in prize money is available to the first privately funded team to safely land a robot on the surface of the Moon by the end of 2015. The robot must travel 500 meters over the surface of the Moon and send back video footage, images and data back to the Earth’s surface.

“We look forward to working with Team Omega Envoy, particularly the student interns,” said Alison Wildblood, CEO of CAMCAD Technologies. “There are so few opportunities for students to get ‘real world’ experience learning CNC programming and machining in Central Florida. Kudos to Earthrise Space, Inc. for making that part of their corporate mission! For over 20 years, CAMCAD has worked with technical schools and universities to help train the next generation of manufacturing professionals. We intend to use our manufacturing expertise to help Team Omega Envoy achieve success in their quest for the Google Lunar X Prize,” she added.

Software Company’s Success Attributes to #2 Rank Worldwide

(Winter Springs, FL) – CAMCAD Technologies, Inc., a Central Florida-based provider of manufacturing software solutions to increase productivity and profitability, has been named the number one SURFCAM® value-added reseller (VAR) in North America for the month of March. The company is currently ranked number two in the world for SURFCAM® value-added resellers.

SURFWARE, Inc. is a leading provider of milling and metal cutting software solutions for machine shops across the world and developer of the global leader SURFCAM® CAD/CAM systems. In February the company announced that Vero Software, the world’s largest and number one CAM specialist, had acquired their SURFCAM assets.

SURFCAM has experienced strong sales throughout the first quarter and attributes much of the success to regional resellers. “It is a difficult task to be a successful Software Sales organization today in any type of market,” said Matt Soucy, Reseller Manager for SURFCAM. “SURFCAM is very fortunate to have such a loyal and dedicated organization of Software VAR’s to partner with.”

Founded in 1991 by Don McKillop, CAMCAD Technologies serves manufacturing communities across the Southeast with CAM software, edit-free post processors, custom applications, reverse engineering and contract part programming. In 2000, a CAMCAD customer presented a problem that couldn’t be solved with off-the-shelf software. Thus, the company’s custom software development for manufacturing applications was born.

“We’re thrilled to be named the VAR for March,” said Alison Wildblood, CEO of CAMCAD Technologies. “This recognition attests to our continued efforts to position CAMCAD as a trusted, customer-focused partner in the machining industry.”

CAMCAD Technologies, Inc. has continually ranked in the top five for SURFCAM resellers for the past 17 years. In January, they were recognized as reseller of the month, and in 2009, they were awarded the prestigious title of SURFCAM Reseller of the Year.
